Covid-19 Update

November 19, 2020

Working with the Health Department, we have made the decision to move to remote learning on a limited basis during the holiday season.

Today, we sent home with students our remote learning calendar that provides the dates that we will be learning remotely and in-person through January 2021.

Our dates for remote learning will allow us to minimize the spread of Covid-19, especially as it relates to the anticipated increase in cases tied to the holidays.

We will begin remote learning Monday, November 23rd.

PAST UPDATES

November 6, 2020

The Jefferson Area Local School District has been notified of confirmed cases of COVID-19 for 2 Students at Jefferson Elementary and 4 students at Jefferson Sr High School.

We are working closely with Ashtabula County Health Department to determine close contacts with these students.

The elementary students that tested positive have not been in school since last Friday, so it was determined there were no close contacts in school.

The high school students have been in close contact with several other students. Working with the health department, we did send students home today and will continue to investigate. Parents of students who were identified as having close contacts have been notified.

After discussions with the Health Department it was determined that our football game scheduled for tonight (Friday, November 6, 2020) is cancelled.

Starting Monday November 9th, the High School will be remote learning for the next week.

High school parents will receive additional information in a robocall from Mr. Huber.

To be clear, Jefferson Elementary, Rock Creek Elementary and our Junior High School will be open for classes on  Monday, November 9th.

FREE BREAKFAST & LUNCH FOR ALL STUDENTS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers:         September 8, 2020

Beginning September 9, 2020, all students attending Jefferson Area Local Schools will receive free breakfast and lunch at school until further notice.

This applies to both students attending in person and those attending online. In addition, the free breakfast and lunch includes children 18 and under in the JALSD community.

In order for this program to be successful we need your help in signing up for meal pick up.  Our staff will be serving meals daily to all students attending classes and pre-packaging the meals to go home.  Please click here to see the detailed instructions for picking up meals.

We still encourage you to submit an application for free/reduced meals, if you have not already done so, due to the fact that students will revert to their prior payment status when government funding for the free meals runs out. Applications can be found on the JALSD website http://www.jalsd.org/district/food-service-department

It is important that we have your household information on file for when the program ends and we continue with our NSLP program
