Continue the development of a

curriculum that reflects the rigor of Ohio’s  standards in order to provide students  a challenging course of study

in order to create high expectations and lessons that incorporate more rigorous opportunities for learning, move students to more challenging work and provide students with opportunities to demonstrate learning at high levels through increased student engagement
 

 

In order to promote that rigor is more than what we teach and what standards we cover, and that rigor is expressed by how we teach and how students show us that they understand.  (Blackburn, 2008).

Continue to enhance teacher and administrator understanding of how to effectively develop and use strong assessments across the content areas that

are aligned with the standards and promote Formative Instructional Practices to provide a more comprehensive assessment system in our district which will include formative, summative, interim and performance-based assessment types

 

to promote a balanced approach to assessment that is valid and gives teachers the data needed to evaluate their teaching as well as students many opportunities to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have gained and to learn from feedback on their performance.

Continue to support teachers and principals in the process of using technology to transform our instructional and assessment program

in order to develop collaborative inquiry-based learning environments

to meet Ohio’s goal to have all students graduate with a sense of purpose and well prepared to succeed in a technological world

Continue to support teachers K-6 in the development of a Balanced Literacy Program that includes Guided Reading (K-3), Reading in the content area, Fundations, Wilson Reading, AIMSweb, Fountas and Pinnell Benchmarking

in order to prepare students for success across the school curriculum and in their transition to secondary education

to meet the requirements of the third-grade reading guarantee and Ohio’s Literacy goals for students.

Support teachers and principals in the process of developing and implementing a school-wide incentive and discipline program (PBIS)

in order to improve the overall school climate by teaching and rewarding appropriate behavior, providing consistent consequences for inappropriate behaviors, and creating a peaceful and uniform environment to

increase academic achievement and meet the social and emotional needs of all students
