Hello, this is John Montanaro, Superintendent of the Jefferson Area Local School District. At the end of the school day on Tuesday, I was made aware of an alleged incident at Rock Creek Elementary School regarding students reporting that a substitute teacher had made them feel uncomfortable and touched them in the area of their shoulders, arm, and back. The substitute teacher was removed from the classroom and the Ashtabula County Sheriff's Department was contacted to assist with the investigation. Contrary to some rumors that have been circulating, no one was arrested and no charges have been filed as a result of this report at this time. We will continue to fully cooperate with the Sheriff's department in their investigation and examine the incident in its entirety. The district has made counselors available to students who were involved in the incident. We will keep you posted on any updates or developments as we work with the Sheriff's department. Pending further investigation, the substitute teacher will not be working in the district.

Thank you.
