JEFFERSON The Jefferson Area Board of Education seeks applicants to fill the unexpired term of board member Mr. Phil Pawlowski, who resigned May 15, 2025.

The board will begin interviewing candidates soon and must name a replacement within 30 days of the resignation. The newly appointed member will serve until December 31, 2025. If the appointed member desires to continue serving, he or she must run in the next general election.

Those interested in serving on the Jefferson Area Board of Education should fill out an application. Applications must be completed and submitted to Mr. Brian Stevens (brian.stevens@jalsd.org), Treasurer, no later than May 23, 2025.

According to Ohio law, people serving on the Ohio school boards must be at least 18 years old, district residents and registered voters.

Current Employment: Sr. Pastor at Pentecostal Community Church in Jefferson, Ashtabula & Conneaut. 21 years in Law Enforcement 

Community Involvement: I currently serve as chairman of the board for Ridgeview / Terra Quest Apartments in Ashtabula - HUD. I currently serve on the Children’s Services Board of Ashtabula County. I currently serve on the Ohio District board for United Pentecostal Church International - Serving in the role of Presbyter for 22 churches. I currently serve as an external board member for several churches across Ohio.

Related Service: Volunteer with Rock Creek PTO events.  Former IEP Coordinator and Behavior Specialist at Summit Academy Community School Painesville.  Former Governing Authority Board Member with Summit Academy Community School Painesville.

Current Employment: Behavioral Health Counselor at Signature  Health, Inc. and Behavioral Health Counselor at Aaris Therapy

Community Involvement: Board of Directors for the Ashtabula Arts Center.  Former board member of several community boards including United Way of Ashtabula County, and a founding board member of both Longest Day of Play and Signature Health Foundation.
